This could be the greatest year in University of Utah Athletics ever. The Utes won every championship in the Mountain West of sports that people actually care about (well, except Golf, but people only care about the PGA tour, not college).
This last weekend the sixth-seeded Utah Utes shocked the conference and won the MWC Baseball title by beating San Diego State in the Championship. I can't write much on Utah baseball, because I am not a follower of College Baseball, but suffice it to say this is great for the program and gives the Utes their first invite to post-season play since the 60's.

Arguably more importantly is this:
2008 MWC Football Champions: Utah Utes
2008-09 MWC Men's Basketball Champions: Utah Utes
2008-09 MWC Women's Basketball Champions: Utah Utes
2008-09 MWC Baseball Champions: Utah Utes
The Utes also won the Women's volleyball Championship. Not to mention 3rd in the nation in Gymnastics and finished sixth in the nation in Skiing.
So the Cougs can keep their Track and Field, Swimming, and Soccer championships - and to be fair, the Cougs won the most MWC championships this year - we'll take the one's that matter!! The background on this site is staying red for a long-time, get used to it.
One interesting side note, if you look at the list of MWC Champions this year, they are dominated by the Utah Schools, third is TCU and New Mexico with two each. The dominance of Utah, BYU, and TCU in the conference is not only in Football. These schools have developed quite the athletic programs and all deserve to be in "Major" conferences.
